Folk wisdom says that the smell of anise is a surefire fish attractant. It masks the smell of human scent and is irresistible to fish. Whether that’s true or not, we cannot say, but the powerful black licorice smell of anise oil does help fuel the imagination and magnify the memory of that perfect day on the water with a fishing rod and net in hand...a day that will live on in the telling for many years to come.
