Two of Naarm's favourite synth punk acts go head to head on an exclusive 7” release, and LIVE for one night only! With ‘Nocturne Baby’, Cong's back on the (mutant) dance-floor. This time, instead of pounding the floor and walls relentlessly with punk fervor and reckless abandon though, he is instead luxuriating and sleazing all over it. On ‘Nocturne Baby’, the EBM squelks, bleeps and sharp synth arpeggios are there, but this time Cong's voice croons and washes over it playing necromancer, resurging all that is sensual, human and the opposite to daytime ratrace artifice. Flip the record to hear dance-post-punk duo Hearts & Rockets’ new synth-heavy single ‘The Promise’. Sounding like the indie sleeze offspring of The Cramps and The B-52, Kalindy’s bratty vocals demand servitude, while Kurt’s stabbing bass punctures the synth’s driving melodies, all set to a disco beat. Cong Josie and Hearts & Rockets have teamed up for a split 7" that sees Cong sleeze-out on the dance floor and Hearts & Rockets at their brat-punk best. Things are gonna get a dungeon shade of dark with Vacuum and Double Vanity kicking off proceedings for the special live launch event at Brunswick Ballroom on March 7 - part of Brunswick Music Festival. This is the first time that labels It Records and Psychic Hysteria have joined forces for a release, after sharing the same dancefloors for the past few years. It was always meant to be.
